Disclosure

The Gown Journal is published by the team behind Lace & Love, the made-to-measure studio of designer Shany Sasson. That relationship is stated on the About page, in the footer of every page, and in any sentence that links to the studio's own site. We accept no sponsored posts, no paid placements and no affiliate commissions from anyone else, and we do not review, rank or write about other businesses.

Links to the studio appear only where they add something a reader would want: a measurement guide when the subject is measuring, a collection that shows a fabric on a finished dress when the subject is that fabric. They are never the point of a guide, and every guide is written to stand on its own.

How guides are researched

Each guide starts with the questions brides actually ask, gathered from consultations at the studio, from customer messages, and from forums. The draft is then checked with at least one professional who works with wedding dresses daily: a designer, a pattern cutter or a seamstress. Where professionals disagree (they often do, on things like how tight a bodice should be or whether a veil should match the lace), the guide reports the disagreement rather than resolving it artificially.

What we do not do

• We do not print prices or price ranges.
• We do not rank, review or recommend specific businesses.
• We do not use stock photography presented as real dresses.
• We do not publish a guide that has not been checked by someone who works with wedding dresses.

Corrections and updates

Guides carry a publication date and, when revised, an update date. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. Corrections of fact are made as soon as they are verified, and material changes are noted in the guide.

Language

Guides are written in plain English. We avoid salon jargon where a plain word exists, and we explain it where it does not. Nothing on this site is a substitute for a fitting with a professional who can see you in the dress.
